PRE: Complete Guide

Our PRE workout contains the top 10 ingredients clinically proven to promote better blood flow, maximize the pump, increase muscle endurance, and improve concentration. These ingredients work together to provide the best possible workout experience! There’s an option for everyone with both our non-stimulant and stimulant formulas.

Majority of consumers who use preworkout assume they are only taking it because of the energy it gives them; however caffeine should only be a small percentage of the formula in a high quality preworkout. In our stimulant based PRE, caffeine is only 1 of 18 ingredients! This comes out to be 5% of the formula with 125 mg of caffeine per scoop. As you can see, the 17 ingredients remaining – the other 95% of the formula – are what make our PRE amazing!

When it comes to our stimulant free PRE, there are fewer ingredients as some were no longer needed after the removal of caffeine and other stimulants. For example, caffeine can deplete vitamins such as B6. You’ll see it along with several other vitamins in our stimulant (caffeine) PRE to avoid the depletion, but you won’t see them included in our stimulant free version as they are no longer necessary. Despite having fewer ingredients and no caffeine, our stimulant free PRE formula still contains 10 incredible ingredients that make it just as amazing as our stimulant based PRE!

Benefits of our PRE:

  • Improves Blood Flow
  • Promotes Maximum Pump Effect
  • Increases Muscle Endurance
  • Boosts Concentration
  • Quick 30-Minute Release
  • Enhances Your Workout Experience

Ingredient Breakdown:

Stimulant PRE:

  • Niacin
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin B12
  • L-Citrulline
  • Beta Anhydrous
  • Taurine
  • L-Tyrosine
  • L-Tryptophan
  • Choline Bitartrate
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract
  • Alpha GPC
  • Caffeine
  • CitraPeak
  • L-Theanine
  • Citrus Bioflavonoids
  • Theobromine
  • Alpha Yohimbine

  • Niacin:vitamin B3 that helps break down food for energy
  • Vitamin C:antioxidant proven to minimize the catabolic stress response
  • Vitamin B6 and B12:  study finds vitamin B-6 to play an important role in the metabolic pathways required for exercise, while vitamin B-12 assists with DNA synthesis, which is necessary for the formation of red blood cells
  • L-Citrulline: a non essential amino acid that may increase blood flow (the pump) by increasing nitric oxide production. An increase in blood flow to the muscle can result in strength increases during the lift as more blood in the muscle also means there are more nutrients in the muscle as well. L-Citrulline can also produce positive muscle effects by decreasing amino acid breakdown and stimulating protein synthesis (a process in which our cells make protein).
  • Betaine Anhydrous: a naturally occurring chemical in the body that improves hydration, stimulates water-based pumps (ie: shuttles water to your muscles), improves strength and power, and, like l-citrulline, supports protein synthesis.
  • Taurine: a conditionally essential amino acid that increases endurance, performance, workload, and can reduce overall muscle soreness. There are also recent studies that prove it prevents muscle damage and protein catabolism while decreasing oxidative stress produced by exercise. Study can be found  here.
  • L-Tyrosine:this ingredient may be familiar to many of you that use our  MELT fat burner (in-depth blog can be found  here). It is an amino acid that has many incredible benefits. In the context of PRE workout, especially in a non-stimulant PRE, it helps with focus and reduces fatigue.
  • L-Tryptophan:an essential amino acid that is necessary for making proteins.  Study finds: total exercise time, perceived exertion rate, maximum heart rate, peak oxygen consumption, pulse recovery rate, and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption were determined during the two trials. The total exercise time was 49.4% greater after receiving L-tryptophan than after receiving the placebo
  • Choline Bitartrate:when choline is depleted during intense physical exercise, it may fall below normal levels and negatively impact exercise endurance
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract: caffeine is removed during the extraction process of our green tea leaf ingredient. During the process, tea leaves are soaked in water to release caffeine and other tea compounds. There is a relatively new study that looks directly at decaffeinated green tea leaf extract and the overwhelming results of its benefits of increasing energy output during exercise. Full study can be found  here.
  • Alpha GPC:supports a role for enhancing cognitive function, increasing strength and stimulating the release of growth hormone. A  study found that it may increase brain levels of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter that is important for memory and learning. A substance that could potentially augment human performance by facilitating neuro-muscular interaction (study)
  • Caffeine:promotes central nervous system stimulation, making you feel alert. Caffeine is the key reason why coffee boosts brain function. This stimulant blocks adenosine, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain that makes you sleepy. A popular stimulant used in pre-workout to increase energy, focus, mental alertness, and exercise performance
  • Citrapeak: this ingredient is a derivative of citrus and a vasodilator that increases blood circulation through vasodilation (the opening of the blood vessels), which delivers blood and nutrients to working muscles, giving you a maximum pump effect. It also increases muscle strength and endurance, helping you lift heavier weights and increase reps. The full studies that prove its effectiveness in increasing blood flow and the nitric oxide pump can be found  here.
  • L-Theanine:amino acid that elevates levels of GABA, as well as serotonin and dopamine. These chemicals are known as neurotransmitters, and they work in the brain to regulate emotions, mood, concentration, alertness, and sleep, as well as appetite, energy, and other cognitive skills
  • Citrus Bioflavonoids:another citrus derivative that has been proven in many third-party studies and trials to increase blood flow (again, more blood flow to the muscle being worked = stronger output, less fatigue, more nutrients, fewer injuries, and better recovery).
  • Theobromine:structurally similar to caffeine and derived from cocoa, it is a performance-enhancing agent similar to caffeine that improves  your mood and increases blood flow.
  • Alpha Yohimbine:yohimbe is the name of an evergreen tree found in parts of central and western Africa. It is meant to boost mood and increase physical performance

Non-Stimulant PRE:

  • Potassium
  • L-Citrulline
  • Taurine
  • Beta Anhydrous
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract
  • KSM-66 Ashwagandha
  • CitraPeak
  • Citrus Bioflavonoids

  • Potassium: an important mineral in the body, arguably one of the most important. In PRE, it regulates blood pressure levels, maintains nerve function, and controls fluid balance. It also helps support muscle health and muscle contractions.
  • Taurine: a conditionally essential amino acid that increases endurance, performance, workload, and can reduce overall muscle soreness. • Betaine Anhydrous: a naturally occurring chemical in the body that improves hydration, stimulates water-based pumps (ie: shuttles water to your muscles), improves strength and power, and, like l-citrulline, supports protein synthesis.
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL: made from L-carnitine, this ingredient helps the body naturally produce more energy.
  • KSM-66 Ashwagandha Root Extract: this ingredient helps decrease stress (cortisol) and increase testosterone in those who are active and weight train. Two additional studies can be found  here and  here.
  • Citrapeak: this ingredient is a derivative of citrus and a vasodilator that increases blood circulation through vasodilation (the openingof the blood vessels), which delivers blood and nutrients to working muscles, giving you a maximum pump effect. It also increases muscle strength and endurance, helping you lift heavier weights and increase reps. The full studies that prove its effectiveness in increasing blood flow and the nitric oxide pump can be found  here.
  • Citrus Bioflavonoids:another citrus derivative that has been proven in many third-party studies and trials to increase blood flow (again, more blood flow to the muscle being worked = stronger output, less fatigue, more nutrients, fewer injuries, and better recovery).

Difference Between Stimulant Free vs Stimulant:

Our non-stim PRE provides all the same amazing benefits as the stimulant version, but there are a handful of ingredients that are not included in the non-stim formula such as caffeine, other stimulants, and a few vitamins. As mentioned previously, some ingredients were no longer needed after the removal of the stimulants.

If you are caffeine/stimulant sensitive, workout at night, or want to consume your caffeine elsewhere, our non-stim PRE is the perfect option. You’ll still receive the benefits our PRE has to offer without the caffeine!

When to Take PRE:

It is most beneficial to consume PRE 15-20 minutes prior to your lifting session (not cardio).

Who Should Use PRE Workout?:

The ingredients in our PRE are geared towards weight lifting. We do not recommend taking PRE before a cardio-only gym session as many of the ingredients will simply go to waste. If you’re looking for something to increase your performance and endurance during cardio sessions, we would suggest trying our  beta alanine and/or  creatine13.

We set out to create the best PRE workout modern science could create. Every ingredient in our PRE is clinically dosed and we truly believe after one workout you’ll be hooked for life!
